May 2014: Tips, ENews & More!

Spring has taken hold and the great Canadian Summer is upon us. With the days getting longer, most of us are spending more time in the sun. Aside from the obvious safety tips like putting on sunscreen and drinking plenty of water, there are many precautions you can take to ensure you're safe in the great outdoors:
  • Wear a helmet when you cycle
  • Make sure you wear supportive footwear when going on long walks and hikes
  • Use a good mouth guard for playing sports such as soccer and football to protect your teeth.
  • Contact our office and we can provide you with a high quality, properly fitted mouth guard.
We hope you made your Mom smile on Mother's Day. Enjoy the Victoria Day long weekend and holiday on Monday May 19th.

Please note that we will be closed on Monday May 19th but will resume regular office hours on Tuesday May 20th. For any dental emergency during this day, please call the Dental Emergency Clinic at (416) 485-7121.

Brushmania!

Dr. Syriopoulos was part of Brush-a-mania this year at Crescent Town Elementary School which took place on April 5th.

Also in attendance was Mr. Michael Prue, (Member of Provincial Parliament) Dr. Raffy Chouljian, and Dr. Rick Caldwell (past president of the Ontario Dental Association),

Our very own Dr. Syriopoulos helped kicked off Dental Health Awareness month for the children at Crescent Town. He had a blast educating kids about the importance of oral health and loved their enthusiasm.

Happy brushing!!

Artwork at DNDC
New on the Artist's Wall this month is featured artist, Margaret Thatcher.

The theme of Margaret's pieces are of landscapes and flowers. The colour and form are expressionist in nature. We love how these paintings remind us that summer is just around the corner! Come by our office to take a look at these beautiful pieces.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Do you ever wish your teeth were straighter, whiter, more aligned?
If you could cover your stained slightly crooked or gapped teeth and make them appear flawless would you?

This question isn't merely hypothetical, because with modern dentistry techniques...you can!

One procedure that has become popular recently and is highly effective is called Veneers. These veneers are custom, porcelain facings that are bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth. They are made to match the shape and size of your mouth and created at the whiteness level that you desire. To perform the procedure the thickness of the veneer is "smoothed" off the natural tooth surface and the veneer is bonded to the tooth. The result feels and looks natural.
