It's finally April, and that means that spring is here! Many of us have missed the outdoors and warm weather, so now is a perfect opportunity to take part in all of your favourite outdoor activities such as hiking and sports. As restrictions ease up, we hope that you are able to celebrate spring holidays like Easter, Passover, and Holi with friends and family and enjoy them even more!
April is Oral Health Month, a perfect time to review how to maintain good oral health and to schedule a spring cleaning for your teeth if you haven't been in to see us in a while. Click here to request an appointment with us today!
While masking requirements have been removed in most places by March 21, 2022, this does not include healthcare settings. As a healthcare provider, our office has infection prevention and control requirements, including PPE requirements, that are essential to the delivery of safe and effective oral health care. Therefore, you are still required to wear a face mask inside our dental office. The Ministry of Health also continues to require that all patients be screened before being treated.
Now that many of us are scheduling regular cleaning appointments again, please keep in mind that if you have not been in to see the hygienist regularly since COVID, you may have increased tartar and calculus buildup. As a result, the hygienist may need to bring you back into the clinic for subsequent cleaning appointments. Don't worry, as soon as all the calculus and tartar has been successfully removed, the hygienist will place you back onto a regular scheduled hygiene routine. We thank you for your understanding in this matter and your teeth and gums thank you too!
This month, we would like to highlight a topic not often discussed: the impacts of smoking cannabis on oral health. Cannabis has become much more common and public since its legalization in Canada, but many people don't yet know the effects it can have on your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. Read our article below to learn more!
Have a safe and healthy month,
